Should I say something?

My friend just posted on Facebook that she just forward faced her son's car seat. He's not even a year old yet. He won't be until April. I feel this is extremely unsafe but I don't want to offend her. Should I say something or just leave it be?

Edit** she posted a picture of him. I didn't realize there were circumstances where it would be a safer option. I've just always been told to rear face until two. I haven't said anything to her but she's also not a close friend. I went to high school with her. She's more of an acquaintance than friend so I wasn't sure if I'd be overstepping if I asked her reasoning.

I turned my oldest as early as I could (maybe even a little before I legally was supposed to). He had acid reflux and regularly choked. I felt, in his case, turning him was safer.

Maybe just ask why. She might have a reason that she feels outweighs the risks of forward facing.

I would keep my mouth shut. Every child is different and what works for one family may not for another. It may seem unsafe to you, but it's not your child. Personally, I would wait until at least one.  Sometimes it works out better for a few different reasons

My son was turned forward before he was 1 because he was long and met the weigh requirements. We needed a new car seat cuz I'd kept him in the rear facing as long as possible but his legs started to get cramped up too much and I weighed the pros and cons of it. Turn him forward a bit earlier even though he met the right guidelines or risk an accident and him having 2 broken legs all cuz people say you shouldn't do it till they're 1. For us I turned him based on what I want comfortable with.

Rear facing until 2 in *most* states is a suggestion not law.  Just like how they used to suggest putting babies to sleep on their stomachs not their back, shit changes all the time.

So first I suggest looking up car seat laws in your state.

If and only if it is against the law, then you should inform her via private message.

If it's not against the law, carry on minding your own business.

Interestung, most people in Australia forward face from 6 months, the law only requires rear facing until then

I would bring it up but not on Facebook. There are lots of excellent sources and research out there. Mine is two and still rear facing, and she will stay that way until she reaches the weight limit (40 lbs). She's 25 now so I think we're good until she's 3-4. A lot of countries require rear facing until much older, even four years old. It's much much safer for the child.
