Question about a one month old?

My son is a month and a week old. He has trouble pooping now but not at the beginning. I feed him breast milk but I'm also supplementing with formula. Sometimes when he tries to poop it'll keep him up for a while and he grunts and cries. I'm just not sure what to do. Its been going on for a while now. He does eventually end up pooping but its only once a day. In the beginning it was everyday. What should I do?

I have the same issue every morning .what we do is put him on his belly and rub him clockwise on his back.. it helps him and sometimes he even fall back asleep.. just make sure you are monitoring.  My LO now is strong enough to change his head from one side to an other. I bf exclusively but at the beginning I was supplementing with formula. It got better when I stopped the formula but still happens.

Is it hard? My baby went from popping a bunch to only once a day she's breastfed he said as long as it's not hard pellets it's find if it is hard it could be the formula might have to try a different kind my last baby wasn't breastfed and he got constipated from the formula we had to switch kinds

My pediatrician just warned me that the poop changes around a month and to not worry- even if baby goes several days without pooping. He said grunting and straining is normal. He said the only time to be concerned is if the poop looks like little pellets instead of soft poop.
