My New Year's Baby!!!

My husband, 10 year old, and I were playing Headbandz and watching Dick Clark's Rockin New Years eve when my water broke at 10:30 PM.  I couldn't believe it and at first, just thought that I wet myself.  I ran to the bathroom and called for my husband to bring me a new pair of underwear.  I stood up and it just kept flowing.  Me and my husband realized at the same time that my water broke!  I called my mom to watch my 10 year old and then took a shower.  

We got to the hospital and to my room by 11:30 and ended up watching the ball drop in the room.  We were then taken to the delivery room since we were the only ones in the ward.  

The nurses ended up having to try 5 times to get my IV in before they were successful.  The first two were in my hands and the vain a were too deep.  The third was successful, but my vein popped and it left a huge bruise.  The fourth went in and we Hightower it was good, but it turned out that the fluids were not flowing like they should and my arm swelled up to the point that I couldn't move my hand and my arm was going numb.  The fifh and final attempt was good, but it was too late to get any meds or an epidural!!

At 2:30 I had gone from 4cm to 10cm in a matter of 20 minutes and was ready to push.  The nurses kept telling me those lovely words "don't push yet" since my midwife was on her way up.  The nurses were physically using their fingers to try to keep me from pusing my little man out yet.  The midwife finally arrived and told me to go ahead and push when ready.  Two pushes later, my little man was out!!  No medication, at all!!  I wouldn't trade it for the world!! He was he first baby born in 2016 for our area! 

Weighing 8lbs 12pzs and 21 inches long.  We welcomed Callen James into his world!!
