Does this make me a bad person?

A lot of the time I find myself annoyed with my friends. One in particular has a very negative, sardonic personality and it can really bring me down. It didn't use to be this way but now I feel like all our exchanges are one sided sarcasm and taunting about the things I like or talk about, she has also started clinging to another one of our friends and is only nice to her now. We're a decent sized group and sometimes it irks me so much that I want to vent to my other friends, but I don't want to seem childish and two-faced? Am I a bad friend?

I have this problem with people in general, so I limit my close friends. My problem is I'm ridiculously empathic and entirely too helpful. Meaning, when someone is feeling shitty and mopey, I feel shitty and mopey. And I try to help them out of it but inevitably also end up hating whatever they hate and struggling to get out of that cycle.

Doesn't make you a bad person but why not try asking her what her problem is? Obviously something is up if she's blatantly being an asshole to you and not your other friend. I had a friend like that and when I asked wtf her problem was always having some back handed comment about me it turned out she was jealous of me. What on earth I possess for anyone to be jealous of is beyond me and I have no clue but it was better to clear the air before ✂️ cutting ties or just not associating with her as much. She's a very self centered individual and demands to be center of attention and didn't like me being able to connect easier with mutual friends. Just ask her what her problem is. Or if there's this one sided comment look her ass in the eye and say "what do you really mean by that because I feel you're just trying to get away with taking a stab at me, what's your problem?"

I started really disliking my best friend of 8 years a few years back. She became really bitter and would only ever want to talk shit about other people or just about things that were really unnecessary. At the time I was trying to separate myself from all of that so I distanced myself from her for a while , after 2 years she's now back in my life full time and I'm really proud of the positive person she has become and she understands now why I chose to do what I did.

It can be physically TIRING to be around someone that literally can't say anything good. It just feels like you're being pulled down into the muck. In your situation, I also wouldn't complain to your other friends about it, for exactly the reasons you stated. Don't let yourself be drawn into the negativity either. Like when she's talking bad about someone, stay out of it because before you know it, she'll be saying YOU said this and that.
