Can you get rid of HPV?

Question

Ok so when I was 18 I went to a clinic because I had sores which were really itchy and painful and weeping and I was told I had genital warts and the nurse froze them there and then for me. After a month or so they completely cleared up and I've never had a breakout since. I realise I had gotten them from my boyfriend at the time since he had been cheating and I hadn't slept with anyone else! I was told that usually you get a breakout when you change sexual partners. Well since then I've had 3 sexual partners, 2 which have been boyfriends and I've never had any problems since. I just want to know if I still have HPV or did my body fight the virus off. I'm 21 years old now and I am worried if I have given my partner the virus. Is there any way I can get tested for this? Thanks

Well I was diagnosed with hpv when I was 18 and pregnant with my first because my bf at the time cheated multiple times. I had another pap after I had my son and it came back low risk. So I had another 6 months after that and it came back negative and has been negative ever since and I am 32 years old now and have never tested positive for it since. It depends on the strain of hpv you contract because they're multiple strains of the virus. The particular strain I contracted my body was able to rid itself of. Not all strains are permanent. And everytime I have had a pap I have always always told my doctor sonic could be rechecked for it and it has always came back negative.

Please educate and be responsible. It is not a virus that goes away. You may not have outbreaks but you are a carrier and will spread it. You must disclose it to all your sexual partners and use condoms always.

Your body can clear HPV by itself, even if you've never had symptoms. I think they say 90% of sexually active people have had HPV, but most clear it without ever knowing.

I guess I don't know about the strains that cause warts, but I had cancerous hpv when I was 19. Had a leep procedure  (they burn out a layer of your cervix l) it showed up every year in my pap for 7 years. The last 3 years my doctor has found no sign of it and told me some strains, your body does just clear itself. So either my doctor is wrong, or these women commenting.... but I know I've haven't shown positive for it in 3 years and this last time she cleared me to do my paps every 3 years vs every year.

I was positive with hpv and 6 months later it has been negative ever sense. I don't have it anymore so I guess there is different strains of the virus and mine wasn't serious.

I had it 8 years ago and no longer have it. Some people have it forever and some strains your body can fight off. Make sure you get regular pap smears because it can cause cervical cancer. Ask your doc at your next visit to test to see if you still have it.

Did the doctor not explain any of this when she gave you the diagnosis? Yes, you have it now, you have it forever. Sadly, now a couple of other people might have it as well. 
How have you not researched this after being told you have it??
