Nitrous Oxide?

Question

Anyone used or know of anyone that has used nitrous oxide during labor? I'm not due until April but I don't necessarily want an epidural and I've heard the nitrous oxide is a new option so I was curious about any reviews anyone might have. Thanks!

I wish I could try it, but my hospital doesn't offer it as an option during labor yet. :(

It's not a new thing, but if you don't want an epidural why would you want nitrous? That goes into your bloodstream and therefor to the baby much easier than an epidural that is confined to your spinal cord.

I'm considering N2O as well. I do not plan on wanting an epidural, but may decide to have some form of pain medication. 
Yes, N2O is passed through the placenta- I have spoken with my OB and Midwife- they both assured me that this is very low risk. I plan on doing some more research for myself but I definitely like the option.
It's not offered at a lot of hospitals so be sure to check with your provider.

I'm in SD. Due in April as well!

My friend from childhood had her 4th child with that after trying to homebirth for 3 days. She said it was just what she needed and was best next to her one successful homebirth after 2 c-sections.
