I've had it in since June 2015. Since then I've noticed increase in irritability and mood swings. From being very happy to a week later crying at everything. This didn't happen till I had it placed. I'm planning on having it removed but was interested to see if anyone else was experiencing this ?

Had the same experience but I asked every professional I know and they all say it's the hormone change that generates mood swings. Mirena if anything it should make it steady and shouldn't affect your mood unless you just got it of you just removed it

I noticed this happening about a year after I had mine inserted. I hated it. Had it removed and were pregnant now but couldn't handle the mood swings

Update. I had mine taken out Friday morning that night I started spotting. By Saturday I was bleeding moderately but no cramps. Sunday I was back to just spotting and went ahead and inserted the nuvaring. By around lunch I was cramping, that night I'm passing palm sized blood clots and have filled a overnight pad twice in 2 hours. 😳😒😣

Yeah, if after 6months the side effects are still bad, don't put up with it. Change your birth control. There are other, non hormonal options like paraguard, which is the copper iud.

I had mine put in after my son was born. I experienced heavy bleeding off an on for a few months after, but Dr said it was normal. That went away, then I started having mood swings and horrible cramps. Saw my Dr again and they checked me out, said everything was fine, basically talked me into keeping it in. A while after that the bleeding began again and I put my foot down and had it removed. So glad I did because it took a year for my cycles and hormones to regulate! I know a lot of women have it with no issue, but for me personally, I'd never recommend it. To go through so much for a birth control is medieval!

Girl, I had mine put in after my youngest was born, I totally changed 100% gained weight, moods flipped went from happy go lucky to total b@#$% felt crazy and others saw it. I did some research after my Dr told me nothing to help and found out a lot of girls went through this w mirena by then my Dr had stopped taking my insurance and wouldn't touch it for less than 500$ and as a at the time single mom I couldn't pay that, no other drs would touch it because they said they didn't put it in they wouldn't take it out(total bs) finally after a few yrs I couldn't take it and I pulled it out myself.. That was about 4yrs ago and I'm still getting back to non crazy mode lol. I tell everyone to research Google the hell out of it because it has caused some(not all) women serious issues
