So my husband says we can't afford another child but yet he is getting a new, more expensive truck. And a new, way more expensive camper. How would you feel about this?

Buying a truck and having a child are complete different things with a big cost difference.

Well he shouldn't be buyin those expensive things if you don't agree to it. But children are way more expensive in the long run. Those purchases might cost more upfront but children are expensive forever.

That truck is really one time major cost while a child is quite a lot. I guess the question for now is would you rather give your existing family the ability to do more and have newer nicer things and be able to enjoy the benefits of disposable income. Or would you rather possible struggle and not enjoy the benefits of disposable income. And your situation might change in a year or two so it's not like you mr decision now is final.

Maybe he wants those things more than he wants another child? Maybe he realizes that children are more expensive?

Children cost way more than a car. And maybe he wants to be able to spend money on things like trucks and campers and if you have kids you can't spend that money

A child is a life time expense. Buying a truck is a one time expense. If you don't both agree to have anther child then discuss it again in a few months. Maybe he will feel differently then.
