Ttc & being prepared.

Starting ttc when this cycle is over. I have two questions. What are some recommendations for a good experience with ttc? Also my main question, what are the #1 needs for the baby? I would be a first time mom and I've heard a lot of stories about a couple needing something they hadn't bought or needing something they never thought would be important so what are some baby must haves? thanks!
