Acne prescription?

The scarring is what is bothering me. Has anyone asked their dr for an acne prescription? The actual acne doesn't bother me, but I've never had such bad scarring. Except for right under my lip and the one on my chin, it is all scarring. It seems almost every zit leaves a scar. This is going to take years to fade. I've never had any luck with over the counter products and as a teenager used prescription products. I live in California and in a few months I have no idea what I'm going to do. Right now I'm covering up with tons of makeup, but it's going to get hot soon and the makeup will just melt off. Please share your experiences with requesting a prescription or if you know if any way to safely reduce the scarring. Did you ask your ob? Go to a dermatologist?

I go to school for aesthetics. My dermatologist prescribed me a topical medication but I don't use it. Instead I've been using a cream cleanser (to be sure I'm not drying my sebaceous glands therefor causing sebum over production) and using a lava see toner (which is a topical hydration) seeing that almost none of the water you drink goes to your skin even though it is your largest organ. The product line we have at my school is prima fleur and its all natural however depending on where you live I would go to a local spa and let them know that you're pregnant and you want to try and tone down and prevent acne. And DO NOT pick that will cause scarring too!

I work for a dermatologist. In pregnancy there a very few topical treatments that are safe. We often use clindamycin or azelex in pregnancy. Cerave or cetaphil are great cleansers and also make good moisturizers.

No scar appearance reducing products on the market are safe to use during pregnancy. Try a vitamin C serum and use sunscreen daily. Otherwise you have to wait until baby is out!

Along w the vitamin c you can use a glycolic acid (AHA) to help w fading them. AFTER the baby is here get a retin-a script from your Derm it will help w the scars and the acne

I'm an Esthetician and first you need to stop "popping or picking" at them. When they are completely white is when you can pop them safely but only mess with your face for 10 mins, after that stop. Once you pop it don't keep squeezing until it bleeds, that's what is causing the scarring. Moisturize your face and use sunscreen. Use a very mild exfoliate (I like philosophy's you can buy it at ulta or Sephora) and only use it 2 weekly no more than that. Retin-a will dry the crap out of your skin making it more sensitive to scarring so I don't recommend that. If you moisturized and use a serum or sunscreen it will help but your face will get worse before it gets better. After you're done with your pregnancy and the redness and open pimples has reduced then go into an Esthetician (even go to schools of them teaching esthetics for a discounted price and ask for an Esthetician that's about to graduate) and get a microdermabrasion done. This with get all the dead skin cells off of your face and help reduce the scarring.
