How far along were you when you heart baby's heartbeat on a doppler? Not an ultrasound...

I'm going in for my 9 week 6 day appointment tomorrow. I want to know if they will try and hear the heartbeat on a doppler and if they will be able to hear the heartbeat. I have heard mixed reviews that it still may be too early for a doppler, which will for sure put me into a panic.

My midwife first attempted to use a doppler at 12 weeks. She wasn't able to pick anything up and did an ultrasound to make sure everything was OK. She said that at that time baby's heart was the size of a pea and like finding a needle in a haystack. We heard the heartbeat loud and clear at the following appointment (16 weeks). Try not to worry if the doctor doesn't check for the heartbeat or checks and can't find it. Baby is still teeny tiny, and a lot depends on his/her position.

I just heard mine today and I am between 5-6 weeks.  I have a handheld Doppler and I found it with no problems.  I haven't even heard it at the doctors yet because they claimed it was too early.

6w for us - I did IVF and go in for weekly testing so we had our first ultrasound early and saw/heard baby's heartbeat on the early side :)
