My baby is 18 days old and his umbilical cord stump stinks awful.

It's dying flesh, it's going to stink. My 5 week old daughter's didn't even start coming off until she was 19 days old. There is still some crust in there. All in due time, don't worry.

I honestly was really concerned because I knew it was going to smell but it was AWFUL, could smell through his clothes.. All of that and it fell or 2/3 days later.

Yes call in. I think it should have fell of by now. But all babies heal differently.

My dr said if it gets smelly put some rubbing alcohol in it. It help dry out the area

Unless it's red or pussy.  Which looks like it isn't.  But it's rotting flesh,  it's going to smell 'oh,  so fabulous'  he he..  But soon it'll be gone.

If it smells you should go to the dr. It shouldn't smell bad and it should probably have fallen off by now.
