Dilating for IUI
I have had two previous IUI's with a large reputable infertility specialist, both were not painful and did not take. Today I had a third IUI but had the procedure performed at my OB, they said that they had to dilate my cervix to get the catheter all the way through. This was very painful and the pain lasted about an hour or two afterwards. Making me think that the first two IUIs the catheter didn't make it all the way through my tight cervix. I read online that something as simple as a tight cervix can cause infertility. Has anyone else had IUIs with and without dilating the cervix? Why wouldn't the cervix be dilated every time for an IUI to ensure that the catheter makes it through?
