Transvaginal exam

So I just went and go a ultrasound done and the lady asked me if I was on birth control I was wondering why she asked me that but I also think they may have found a cyst and I really don't want to get on birth control due to the fact that in the next year I want to start ttc I guess my question is why would she ask if I was on birth control and if i do have a cyst or if you have had a cyst was it hard to conceive
