How do you deal with unwanted gifts?

Yes, I love my mother and family members deeply, but I'm tired of getting random baby things. My mom has somewhat of a shopping compulsion in general, and it's only gotten worse now that her first grandchild is on his way. I so appreciate the thought, but I'm tired of getting gaudy kid things (I'm pretty particular about what goes on his room right now). Also, I'm just tired of STUFF in general. I've been on a major purging spree lately, and really into the concepts of minimalism and simplicity - to my mom though, this is just another opportunity to buy me stuff to fill my life. Help!
