My boyfriend tends to ignore my calls/ text when he feels like and without a reason

Hi. This guy and I have been growing in a relationship and he does this thing that he ignores my calls/text without a reason and can go on for a day. I don't like that and I have been telling him that I like things clear and I don't play games. What should I do? I honestly don't like the "pay with the same back to him" I don't think that's the way things are solved.
