What birthing options do you have on Medicaid??

I do not want to give birth with doctors. I want 100% natural water birth but I prefer somewhere with professionals and not at my own house but it's not out of the option. I know Medicaid covers midwives but there's not birthing facility in my area, only at home midwives and I heard they refuse to cover it at home because of the "risks". I have no clue whether im allowed to do a midwife labor at a hospital. What options do you have on Medicaid???

I don't really think you get to be picky when you're on medicaid. I believe it's more like get the baby out in the cheapest way possible with the least complications as possible.

I have Medicaid now. Due to being pregnant blah blah blah blah lol anyways I am giving birth in a hospital that offers natural water births. Just call around. Most places take it. I googled my place and it's actually affiliated with one of the top hospitals for births "New York Presbyterian" good luck love

Most Medicaid will cover a midwife in a hospital because it's cheaper and safer than an OB assuming you're low risk. Many hospitals have groups of midwives who deliver babies at them. I don't have Medicaid at the moment, but I have a different type of government insurance and they happily cover CNMs in hospitals. And I can have a water birth at the hospital if I like.

It's really up the doctor you choose and whether they accept your insurance. All doctors don't do water births and all doctors that do water births don't accept Medicaid

From what I have heard, Medicaid won't cover water births because they deem them unsafe as well as home births. I would call them and ask them for sure. Also, here where I live, none of the hospitals do water births, you have to do it at home or a birthing center if you want a water birth, so I would call the local hospitals and ask if they do them as well. Once you find out if the insurance covers it, find the hospital that takes that insurance and does the water birth, then find a midwife under your insurance that delivers at that hospital
