Scheduling appts around work?

So I'm considering starting clomid next cycle and while I can get the prescription at a nearby pharmacy I still have to go in to the clinic twice a cycle. Did anyone have trouble fitting these appointments in to your work schedule? Did you tell your employer why you're missing work and were they supportive? It doesn't help that I won't necessarily know what days to take off further in advance.
