my boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over a year now. before that, we have been childhood best friends and grew up together. we are very, very close despite the fact that we are doing this long distance, because I moved away. we see each other at least twice a month, more on vacations/holidays. lately we've been talking about taking it to the next step, maybe getting engaged when we graduate. we're both 18, seniors, and going to the same college. I'm very afraid of what our family and friends would say. I know with every part of my heart and soul that I love him and that he loves me as well. are we taking this too fast? should we even care what they say?
