What do you call your kid's private parts?

My hubby and I have a disagreement. I say vagina or vajayjay and penis. He doesn't like his son to say penis.. Idk why he's against referring to sexual organs as the proper name...

Please call them by their proper names. As parents, we don't want to think it could happen to our child, but if a child is being molested and goes to their teacher and says "a man at the bus stop asked to see my cupcake", they aren't going to take it as seriously right away and a child who says "uncle joe touches my vagina when I stay at his house".  It's okay to use 'privates' or 'pee-pee' if you absolutely must, but if another adult can't easily know what part they are talking about--- it's too vague.

Please use the proper terminology. To me this is the same as talking in 'baby talk' then spending years correcting your child's speech. Teach them correctly fr the beginning :)

I didn't grow up calling my vagina by name and I feel it's why I am so uncomfortable with myself. I think it is important for kids to know the correct name of whatever parts they have. My son is 2.5 and knows he has a penis.

When growing up, my mother is v much a prude, she made up names so she didn't have to say the words. My brother had a twinkle n I had a moonbeam! X-)

My daughter is three. She knows the word vagina, but we don't use it. It's just her butt as far as she knows.
My sister, though, is two; and my mom uses 'gina' with her. There is no wrong way, really.

Call them by regular names. Weiner, vagina, etc. When you give them silly names kids then associate shame or embarrassment with the parts or saying it. And personally I want my children to be smart and confident and not be shy or shameful of asking questions or talking about their parts. But to each their own I suppose. I don't want to raise children with ignorance. My girlfriends daughter is 5 and calls it her "gina" and her brother has a wiener. Nothing weird about it.

My daughters know they have vaginas and boys have penis's but when talking about it they will say my special parts. I didn't teach them to hide it but my oldest prefers to call it that and my youngest followed. But if you say what do you mean or what's your special part they will point and say my vagina.
