Mother being harsh (rant!)

Lily-Anne
I had a doctors appointment earlier to go back on the pill, and my mum was adamant she wanted to come with me.
I was fine with that, as she is one of those mothers that love to know every single detail of my health and what's going on.
So, I was talking to the doctor about it and he asked me if I there was any chance I was pregnant, and I told him I had missed a period. My mum didn't say anything, which I was thankful for, and I continued to tell him it was very unlikely, as I have PCOS, but there could be a possibility.
He said that I should take a test before starting the pill, to make sure I definitely wasn't, and I agreed.
In the pharmacy though, my mum completely ignored everything the doctor had said, and when I mentioned it to her she pointedly asked me: "are you joking?"
I told her it was a possibility, and she promptly replied: "the pill will flush out anything that may be in there anyway."
This made me really upset, as she made it sound so heartless.
She is always telling me she would love a grandchild, and that she wouldn't mind me having a baby, yet as soon as the possibly arises, she turns into a heartless and spiteful demon.
Do you think she was being nasty, or am I just overreacting?
It really did hurt me.
