Mirena IUD?

So I'm getting my mirena IUD put in next week and I am a bit worried. I've read so many different reviews and I just don't know what to think.  I guess it depends on my body but does anyone have any advice, experiences, reassurement, tips, or any kind of heads up they'd like to share that would be awesome!!

If you have high pain tolerance like my doctor told me while inserting it then you will be okay. The pain is going to feel like your in labor (thats what the doctor told me) they clamp up your vag and open it up and once they insert it you feel that pain. Really bad cramps! After that they do something else to check the string and something else and it hurts again. After that you are done and its not uncomfortable. You will need 800mg of Ibuprofen. You can get it over the counter at your local drugstore. You will bleed almost every day irregularly. One day I didnt bleed in the morning then in the middle of the night I went to the bathroom I waa bleeding. Cramps hurt a lot but thats because your body is getting used to it. Doctor said it takes about 3-6months for your body to adapt. You can start to cramp after sex too. But everyone's different!!

I have mine for a year and i love it, mine just felt like a strong cramp, nothing out of this world. She put the implant in, cut the strings and it was done. Literally took less than 15 mins I didnt take any pain killers. Couldnt have sex for two weeks i think and that was it. I had my period for three months and now i dont get my period anymore. I spot sometimes but thats it

The Mirena worked great for me for birth control purposes, I have no complaints there. I had to have it removed because I was so depressed I couldn't go to work for about 2 months straight. Got it removed and felt better 2 days later. Do not get Mirena if you have ANY history of depression.

I have the paraguard IUD and I would recommend taking some Tylenol or ibuprofen before going into the waiting room. And just know that it will be uncomfortable and the procedure is a bit painful. But it takes less than a minute to insert. Then you can go home and eat some chocolate, take some more ibuprofen and it'll be okay 😊
