Alright so here's the deal- my SO is a pretty healthy guy. Doesn't eat sweets, works out every day, meal preps- the works. And he has really helped me maintain a healthy diet while I pregnant (22 weeks now). I had a slip up for a few weeks, and now we're getting back on track. I eat ALL meals at home. We only treat ourselves once or twice a month out to dinner. Here's an example of stuff I eat:
Breakfast: flax/vanilla cluster cereal and 1% milk, or eggs and peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Sometimes OJ.
Lunch: chicken salad, crackers/whole wheat bread, pasta salad, fruit, peanut butter or cheese crackers (the ones in packets)
Dinner: chicken, pasta, rice, spinach, sometimes I'll make basil pesto mozzarella sandwiches, chicken noodle soup.
We never have sodas in the house, rarely have sweets (the only thing I have in the house right now is cookies and cream ice cream).
Once a week at work, I'll eat out with my coworkers- well get burritos from moes, pizza, jimmy johns, or chik-fil-A.
This is the problem- he told me I "need to be more conscious of what I'm eating". He said if I have one treat every day (like yesterday I had ONE cookie, and today I wanted a milkshake from my ice cream), that is excessive and he doesn't approve, especially while I'm pregnant because he's afraid I'll make the baby fat. Mind you we (not even lunch with my friends) NEVER eat fast food. No McDonald's, Taco Bell, nothing.
I don't feel unhealthy. I work out 3 times a week (work requirement). And I've put on weight but THATS BECAUSE IM PREGNANT!
Am I wrong? Is a small treat once a day excessive, compared to what I'm eating the rest of the day?
Does anyone know of any credible articles or papers saying my diet is fine? Or having a treat once a day is ok? Anything is appreciated, as long as you don't start bashing my SO. I love him and we're just having a disagreement, that we can't settle on our own. We've been fighting about it all day. Lol! Thanks!
