Little red bumps on newborns face

My son has little red bumps all over his face, like he's broken out in a rash. He is a week and 3 days old and I'm kind of worried. I'm debating taking him to the hospital, but wanna ask if anyone else has experienced it? I did rub some lotion on his face earlier because it was dry, but I've done it before and he didn't have them any other time... Does anyone have advice?
