Can my unborn baby's dad stop me from moving?

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and my baby's dad left me when I was 16 weeks pregnant.. I have no family here and really I would only be staying here for him. I've mentioned to him that I'm thinking about moving near my mum and all the rest of my family which is 200 miles. He seems to think he can stop me? Any body got any advice please?

Move while you're pregnant. Don't wait. He left you , that's his fault. He can't expect you to stay there by yourself! Go be with your family girl

State laws are different. You need a lawyer. My friend was in your situation in Texas. Family in NC. She decided to move home after he left her. When he caught wind, he told her he wanted to work it out because he knew that he couldn't stop her from moving pregnant but COULD once she gave birth. She caught on and moved back to NC anyway. Now all custody etc is in NC jurisdiction because that's where the child was born.

move while you're pregnant if you're going to. same thing happened to me (im only 9 weeks though) and im moving back to my home country next week and my soon to be ex cant stop me or cant do anything until the baby is born which then i have proof that he is a violent person that i dont want around my baby.

I think it depends on where you live. I'm in Arkansas and it's a mommy state. If I'm not mistaken, and his name doesn't go on the birth certificate here he basically has no rights.

He can go to court and contest your move, but that generally isn't done until afyer the birth and after paternity is established.

Here in BC canada, if the father never lived with you and the baby he isn't considered a legal guardian, since the baby is not born yet you can move wherever you want, he chose not to be with you knowing you were pregnant. He can't force you to stay anywhere, he left, he has no say in your life, and if he decides to have a relationship with the child then he can negotiate arrangements with you after they are born
