how are yalls relationships with your SO's family?

We're any of you not close with the mother or sister of your SO and now you are?

Any of you still hate the B****?

What about YOUR parents and your SO's parents? Any of your families close or have a relationship?

My SO swears he wants a close knit relationship between myself and his family, and my family and his family. Like... he wants them to be friends.

I personally think it's strange to have a "relationship" between my and his parents, mostly because his parents are about 15 years older than mine and honestly, what the hell do they have to talk about?

Then as far as me being close with them, I really feel like I don't fit in and all they do is stare at me, so I'm not comfortable.  and when I brought it up to him he says "probably because you get off a negative vibe because you don't talk."

HELLO! I'm not going to just sit there and blab and comment on every topic someone talks about if they aren't talking to me!

I'd like to know how you built a relationship with them (if you have one) and how your and their parents became close!

My SO was my brothers best friend since we were about 10! Our familys grew up together, and love eachother.  My brother has lived out of state for about 5 years now, so we never see him, but our familys get along amazingly and we both love eachothers parents and siblings  😊

My fiances family never liked me, my family hates them for being rude to me, and my fiancé doesn't really like my mom because she's a little childish. I'm pregnant with my second daughter and I think that when the baby is born the hate will turn into a tolerable dislike but we are never going to like each other enough to have a relationship passed babies birthdays and holidays. I wasn't okay with it and really wanted some kind of relationship with his family but I've given up on that. I've been more than friendly to them and can't imagine why they don't like m but. Oh well.

I wanted to have a relationship with my husband's parents, and did for about 6 months. Once they found out I wasn't a virgin anymore that changed. They thought I had corrupted their son, which is funny because he had already lost his virginity years before that, they just didn't know. For 5 years I tried, and got disrespected, and treated like shit under their shoe. Then we got married and the disrespect kept getting worse. We found out we were pregnant for the 3rd time (had 2 previous miscarriages), and they were elated but continued the disrespect. We moved 3 hours away to another state and they will not be around the baby at all.

My husband has an okay relationship with my mom, not great but okay. My mom is kinda antisocial, but she lives with us. So it's alright.

We visited my partners parents yesterday we usually do once a wk, they are so friendly to me and his mother always texts me after to say how lovely it was to see me 😊 my man doesn't see me my parents as often but they still hav a good chat when they do catch up, our parents haven't met yet, his parents are 15 yrs older than mine but they're meeting soon n I think the mothers will get on famously they're both going deaf n wear hearing aids 😄 the dads both enjoy golf and naps 😄
