What's going on?

Question

I went to the emergency room in January, they said I was having a miscarriage, I went and got blood drawn again 2 days later to check my levels, I never heard back, so I just assumed it was a miscarriage as the ER had said.

My SO and I knew we wanted to try again and the end of February I hadn't started my period, I took a test and it was positive, last week I called my doctors and told them I thought I was pregnant, the doctor ordered for me to get blood work, well Monday I got my results, she said my levels show I was 2-3 months along.

My SO was a twin at birth and he also has twin siblings. Is it possible I never actually lost the baby? Or could I be having twins? Or could I have been pregnant with twins and lost one?

My appointment isn't until March 31st so I am just trying to figure it out 😁 I'm so confused

They screwed up and should've called you with your results in the first place! That would make me mad! But it sounds like you still have a baby! Congrats:)

It's possible that you miscarried a twin but kept the other. Definitely a screw up not calling you with results. Sounds like you e got a baby in there! Best wishes!!

The mother side is who determines whether or not you twins. Simply because we are who drop eggs every month. So if you ovulate and more that one egg is dropped thats when you can end up with twins because inside of the sperm only having one egg to fertilize they'll have two which give you fraternal as well as our eggs are the one that spilt and those would be identical twins. Men have absolutely no involvement in whether or not anything happens because they can't determine what happens to your egg or how many you'll drop during ovulation. More than likely you just didn't miscarry the babies as originally thought to.

I would say you may not have lost the baby in the first place. You could have had twins and lost one. 
Just because your SO has twins doesn't mean you guys will. It's the mother side that it comes from.

My er doc told me that because my babies heart rate was 85 at 5 weeks that was a sign of miscarriage, but was also normal due to how early I was and baby's heartbeat just started beating. Smh er docs aren't trained on fetal development etc I'd follow up the the medical supervisor of the er department and. Request your paperwork

A doctor is a doctor and although they aren't OB's, they are educated. Something similar happened to me when I was pregnant. I went to the ER with severe pains and bleeding, thinking I  had a miscarriage. They gave me an ultrasound in the ER and ended up telling me that there were two babies and that one didn't have a heartbeat but the other was okay. Maybe it was also too early to tell? Sometimes 4-5 weeks they won't even see the sac.
