MTHFR and at a loss
I am desperately looking for help here and glad to see support groups like this! I just found out that I'm heterzygous for both MTHFR C677T and A1298C. I had a miscarriage ten years ago when I had not planned to get pregnant. Now we're married and we're TTC#1 as of late January when I had my Mirena removed. This and other genetic testing were done before having the Mirena removed because I have history of stroke (before birth), a blood clotting disorder, PFO, chronic aura migraines and I'm 36. Naturally, I was considered high risk from the get go hence the testing. I do not know much about this as these results have not been discussed with me at all. I also have high homocysteine levels according to my posted test results. I have NO idea what to do with this info and I'm worried about my and future baby's health. I'm at a loss. I gather that I should be taking some form and amount of folate. And if that was not enough, I just got a letter from my insurance company and they are denying coverage for these genetic tests because they are deemed "investigational"! WTF?! Any insight would be most appreciated. I'm currently on full dose aspirin, chantix and vitafusion prenatal vitamins, all daily. Just starting a bunch of vitamins from Fairhaven Health.
