Renewing vows?

So my husband and I got married in June 2014. We eloped and it was beautiful. When we got back, we didn't necessarily think about how it would affect the family.  Turns out they wanted to see us get married. We decided to renew our vows so our families could be apart of it, and everyone is excited.  My question is has anyone done this? I'm not actually sure how this goes.

I'm actually in the process of renewing my vows right now because we got married in the courthouse and the same reaction from extended family and friends. We are treating it exactly like a wedding.

My husband and I got married at the local courthouse on October 8, 2015. We picked that day because he proposed on Oct. 8, 2014 and it was special to us. We had our wedding and reception with friends and family on Oct. 17, 2015.

Go for it! It was fun to have a special day between the two of us and then a "party" with our loved ones :)

I'm from the uk, next year we are going to Vegas to renew our vows at a chapel, I'm not sure how it goes but I'm sooooo excited! We want it to do it really really tacky, so far planning to wear a short white dress, dad dressed as elvis with an elvis doing the ceremony, my sister in a pink track suit 😂 not sure what mum is thinking yet but my husband is thinking one of those t shirts with the suit print on it or dress up as something 😂😂😂 I'd love to get a ring with dice or cards on or something while over there but we can't find anything online so far 😂😂😂 I know that's not quite the point of this post but I'm sooooo excited!

My fiancée and I are thinking of going to a courthouse and getting legally married and then having a ceremony later for our family. The ceremony is mostly just for the pictures and for our family to feel like they're a part of it.

My BIL was legally married is his grandfather a house...then they remarried in the church. I'm not sure how it works...I think the renew is kinda just for show...no real paper work to do or anything

You can have it be just like a wedding. My parents renewed their vows at 20 years and had a big ordeal. I was even the MOH.

We did a courthouse wedding,  5 years later we renewed our vows so that our family could be present.  Just had a small intimate ceremony and dinner afterwards
