Secondhand v New

💁🏽 • Mom . College Student . My mouth is reckless .

Are secondhand clothes better than buying brand new clothes? Is the way you feel linked to money, earth benefits, or just preference?

I bought my child all secondhand clothing except for her coming home outfit and a few things I just couldn't resist picking up. But I bought all new furniture/appliances simply because those things expire and I couldn't find anyone selling one that came from a smoke free home. I will say I feel buying all new things is a waste of money because babies grow fast and get dirty a lot so you'll either wash it so much it falls apart or fades or they will wear it 3 times and can't fit it anymore. Also, moms who whine about people buying them secondhand items bug me so much. It just screams "selfish" and "I'm too good for used items" imo. My kids will wear secondhand until I know for sure the money I'm spending will be regenerated in the amount of wears. Shoes will always be new and uniforms if they wear them, but everyday clothing will be from a thrift shop.
