Am I selfish?

I am in a long distance relationship. We live about 15 hrs apart (by car). Anyways. We've been going steady almost 3 years. I asked him at Christmas when we were going to see each other. He said perhaps spring because he can't afford it right now. I said okay cool can't wait. No problem! Yesterday he's messaging me and we're talking about just life. He had a good day I had a good day no problems. He then proceeded to tell me that he sold two of his guns and one of his old bows in order to buy this new fancy bow. I was like cool! Then playfully I said "can I call you Katniss now?"

Then he told me how much the bow cost. $2600 USD. I was like really? You couldn't have taken like $400 of that and come and seen me for like a weekend. He's like I can't afford it. I'm a little bothered. Am I wrong? What are your thoughts?
