Regretting telling name ideas to family
Everyone (in my family) feels so entitled to adding their opinions about name choices. I thought I was being smarter and saying "Oh we've been playing around with a few names like ___, ____, & ____" instead of saying which name we are pretty much going with as of now. But I should have not even stated a list of names to anyone. So far my husband and I both love Riley Elizabeth. He thought of it and the fact he thought of something made my heart melt.
My mom told me yesterday that "it sounds too much like a dogs name" because her sister's old dog is named Riley. Now I'm a dog lover, believe me, but I've never met this dog and she's an old dog. She told me "I like Stella" and I said "well I know 4 cats named Stella so under your logic we better not. And we better not use Olive, Abby, James, Jake, Molly, Ben, Lily, or Maggie because those are all 'pet names' too." So frustrated. Maybe I'm just hormonal, but I'm going to do my best to not give a flying flip what others think. Who knows, maybe in the next 3 months we will come up with something we like more than a "dog name" 😆
