Toddler biting help!!
My daughter is a little over 2 and has recently (past week) started biting when she is frustrated/is told 'no'. She has bitten me twice now so hard it broke the skin. The first time she did it she had to sit in a chair till she calmed down. After she calmed down we talked about how biting hurts people and why we shouldn't do it. She was very calm and seemed to get it. Since then she will play bite but we tell her kisses not bites and she will kiss instead.
However, today I wouldn't let her crawl all over everywhere at church so she bit me once hard on the arm when I picked her up. We went outside and talked again about no biting but she just kept looking away and giggling not paying attention to me or what we were talking about. Once back inside she kept crawling all over and kept biting me every time I told her no and picked her up. This happened multiple times throughout the hour service.
When she couldn't bite she would pinch both my cheeks as hard as she could (something she will do gently when playing but turned aggressive today). She kissed my cheeks when I put her hands down, told her not to pinch cause it hurts mommy.
I feel like having her sit and calm down in the chair at home worked (or maybe not if she bit me again today) but since we were out that wasn't possible. I am at a complete loss on what to do and keep losing my temper with her about it (which I am not proud of but it is hard when her bites are so hard and won't stop).
My husband and I are AGAINST spanking so please don't suggest it. But if any moms out there experienced this with their kids and know of other things I can try to stop this your ideas/comments/suggestions would help me immensely.
Some extra background: I am 4 months pregnant with #2 and our daughter has seemed more interested and seems to be understanding the whole brother/sister thing lately. I am a stay at home mom so I know she hasn't seen biting anywhere. And we have been giving her extra love and attention since the baby thing had been coming up more.
