Pregnant?

So I'm 31 and we are ttc baby #1. Not using anything just having sex and hoping to end up pregnant for now but this month has been a little weird. I had a normal period at the beginning of the month, then 10 days later I had spot bleeding for 5 days followed by 2 days of what I would call medium to heavy bleeding (enough to use a tampon) then nothing for the rest of the month. Last week we were having sex and we got done and there was blood everywhere. (My husband most likely needed to cut his finger nails ). I took a test the week before that and it was negative but I'm wondering if something could be up. No symptoms except I was really overly tired for that week of spot bleeding. I'm going to the Dr. On Friday but just looking for some advice.
