Secular constitution?

Question

Do you think it's right for religious beliefs common to a country to be included in the constitution? I live in Ireland and our constitution is painfully Catholic. I don't think it's right, I think a constitution should be based on basic human morals and not on the views of any religious congregation. And I am a catholic, so I believe I have a right to this opinion. What do you all think?

I think government should be secular. When religion gets involved in government it causes way more strife and harm than good. Religion belongs in a church,  not a parliament.

Ehhh kinda? Like I don't know what America would be like with the whole Christianity thing in the constitution, but I don't really like the idea of it being the main religion the people follow. We need equal kinds of thinking in the government and the people

Religious beliefs sort of change right? Like how seriously people take them? Most people thought gays were evil, divorce was the highest sin, unwed mothers were a huge sin, women should be more subordinate, stuff like that. Now in present time all of those things are bullcrap and a lot of people reject them, because gays are just regular people, divorce happens people grow out of love, unwed mothers don't need a man, women are equal and kickass. So if religion is incorporated into government and laws, it better be a very mild peaceful religion that won't have outdated laws in 50 years.

Well, many laws are based off the Ten Commandments, which is pretty good.

By design, morals (ideas of right and wrong) must be based on a shared belief in something greater.

The problem with telling everyone to follow their own definition of "moral" is that each person will be different. And then, if I shoot your kid but that's ok for me, you really can't punish me because I was following my "human morals."

This is called anarchy.

I don't think it's necessary of course... I also don't think it hurts though. Not everything needs to be a big deal.
