Baby shower registration? ? Help!

Hello ladies! I am a FTM and am lucky enough to have had many people offer to throw me a shower,  I'm 6 and a half months pregnant and was wondering when did you ladies have your shower ? And where did you register? ? Also what kind of things did you register for ?? Any and all advice appreciated 😊

For the crib, we went for the delta children Capri 3-in-1 crib. When we bought it it was around $120. The crib grows with your child, and can be converted into a toddler bed without the need for you to buy extra parts. We were just going to get one from ikea but IKEA ones are not convertible and they cost around $100 already.

For the car seat, we went with the safety 1st grow and go 3-in-1 car seat. This car seat can be both front and rear facing, and accommodates a child from 5-100 lbs. Our goal was to not purchase anything that our child will outgrow in a matter of weeks or 2 months. Also, safety ratings and reviews were our top priority. When choosing a car seat you also have to make sure it fits your car too.

I was 36 weeks along and I didn't register anywhere. Explained to people all I really needed were diapers and whipes. I had a diaper raffle and it turned out great!! Plus we got over $900 is cash.

Baby list (there's an app but i think a website too) lets you link up multiple places so you just direct your guests to your Baby List link and all your items show up (Amazon, target, etsy, buy buy baby, etc). My shower was around 33 weeks

My husband and I bought the crib, car seat, and nursing chair ourselves, we didn't want to register for items that are way expensive for others to purchase. Luckily we were able to get some hand me downs like stroller, and nursing pillow from some of our friends too. We registered for things like 4 oz, 8 oz baby bottles, the baby bullet (we plan on making our own food eventually), crib sheets, changing pad, high chair, play yard, play yard mattress, baby care essentials like nail clippers, snot sucker, forehead / ear thermometer, baby bath tub, baby shampoo / body wash / lotion, wash cloths, baby hooded towels, baby wipes, 1 box of newborn diapers (not too many in case baby is big), 2 boxes of size 1 diapers, 2 boxes of size 2 diapers, feeding spoons, sippy cups. Oh, and baby monitor too. Mostly just essentials - what we need and not what we want. I did not register for clothing or toys, as I keep reading that a lot of people might go off the registry and buy cute clothes and toys and you'll end up with many anyway.

I bought fabric and made our own burp cloths, and blanket. I also made my own baby mobile.

I bought a ton of used children's books from Amazon, as well as eBay.

I called my insurance company and got a free medela breast pump.

I'm due Aug 26 and am having mine on 6/4. I did quite a bit of price comparison of things I want and ended up registering on Amazon. You can also register at multiple stores. Once you're connected to the bump, all the items you registered from different stores will be in one page so your friends and family can see everything.

I did a lot of homework before registering. The book "baby bargains" was really helpful in helping me understand product reviews, recalls, what you really need, and don't need. Here's the link to the book:

If you don't want to spend money to buy the book, babygearlab.com and lucieslist.com also give you great product reviews. I also watched a lot of mom product review videos on YouTube. They've been most helpful in helping me decide what to buy.
