Is Doppler harmful if done too much?

Question

If you have your own Doppler detector and you use it frequently to check on baby's heart rate, is this harmful to the fetus? I read an article that said it has not been proven to be harmful or not harmful so they advised against doing it but I feel like I need something like this for reassurance and am debating buying one.

My Ob said she used one everyday while she was pregnant, I use mine only when I don't feel movement before bed.

I used mine almost every day. My doctor said there's no harm and a lot of people do. The main concern with people who use it all The time is two things: 1) because you hear the heartbeat it can make you think everything is okay if there's a lack of movement and so people might ignore the kick count rule. And 2) if you CAN'T find it, it can cause unnecessary stress or anxiety that something is wrong when in actuality it could be babies positioning

My doc said no harm in using it once a week or so. No proven harm, but not worth risking using it multiple times daily.

I'd recommend getting one. We got one when I was about 18ish weeks after a scare. We didn't us it every night, maybe a few times a month and I love it! If getting one then have a look on YouTube just so it gives a better idea at what your looking for because of all the sounds in there ☺
