Road trip? Or not? Advice please...

So two weeks ago, 27w 6d, my hubby and I went to Labor and Delivery with contractions and was given a muscle relaxer to stop them, sent home to rest but wasn't put on any light duty or bed rest. The following week, this past friday, 28w 6d, I had more contractions starting at around 7:30pm at work and lasted until 2am. I didn't call or go to L&D, I just drank a lot of water, took warm baths, tossed and turned to ease them up... we went to the dr today and I let them know, she checked my cervix and said it was thick and closed for now, and she did the test for fFN that won't be back until tomorrow. We are wanting to take a road trip that will be about 8 hours long, and she said if the test comes back negative she won't tell me I can't go but did mention that a car ride that long, regardless of how many stops we make, could put me at risk for early labor. I am almost 30 weeks with my first baby and I am very nervous. I just wanted some advice on if I should go or not :/ it's for my hubby's sister's bday and he is so excited to go but can't drive that far by himself. I was confident that I would be able to go and not have any issues until today so I am very confused and just want to hear from other people who have been through this.
