Serious question about being pulled over

So I just got my license and a car. Tonight was my first night driving home in the dark and I live out in the country wayyyy out but there's still cops out here and my mom tells me that if a cop tries to pull me over, that I should call the police and tell them what's happening and not pull over until I'm in the public eye because of the risk of unmarked police cars, "fake cops" and she says she did this when she was younger and the cops were understanding about it.BUT... Like, For instance if it's a real cop (which god I know it's obvious when it's actually a cop like, I mean the cop cars out here are very fancy and up to date too) and I don't pull over for him I just keep going, I feel that would PISS a cop off, make him think I'm running from him and make myself look like I'm hiding something like I am not about to go to jail for not pulling my care over like, ugh.
So my question is, if I am driving out on a dark road and an apparent police car is trying to pull me over should I pull over immediately and do what I'm supposed to do or do what my mom says, call the cops and tell them I'm being pulled over and don't know if it's a "real cop" and only pull over at like a gas station or something.
