Anyone else using a nipple shield?

How long been using it and why and how will you/have you weaned baby off of it?

I used one for the first 2 months. She had a good latch but her mouth was too small for my nipples so she wasn't able to keep the latch well. I went cold turkey because I accidentally threw my nipple shield away at McDonald's. I was terrified but she latched great!

I'm currently using one when I feed because my areola is almost too big for his mouth.

I used one for three weeks along with pumping because my daughters latch needed work. I didn't wean her. Just kept trying to latch her properly when my nipples healed and I felt ready to try again without the shield.

I used one almost exclusively for the first 6 weeks or so. I didn't really have to wean her off of it though, we had a pretty easy transition. I do sometimes still use it though when she's fussy and having a hard time staying latched. She's gained weight very well so I never had any concerns about milk transfer.
