Throwing own baby shower?

So my family live in another country, I have no close female friends and I want to have a baby shower mainly for the baby not me. I just don't know if I should throw it or not?

My husband and I are throwing our own shower BBQ for family and friends! My step mom did the shower for my first and it was everything she wanted and nothing that I suggested so we're going the easy way this time and doing it ourselves!

That does sound more like the kind of 'shower' I want but I just hope whoever plans my shower would consult me on guest list and 'activities'

Many women are choosing to thrown their own with the help of a friend simply to make sure it goes to their liking. 
Where i live surprise showers are a big thing and some ladies simply don't enjoy the surprise factor. Not knowing who was invited, ehat activities they planned and such. 
Personally, one of the showers I attended and enjoyed the most was one that my friend hosted herself, and it was just a relaxing fun "let's have a few drinks and snacks before baby comes" type of thing. All the present for baby included, minus the crazy games some people just don't enjoy. The ladies we're all inside doing more laid back activities and the guys were mostly outside manning the grill and having their safe "guy zone" 😂

Have your family still help, they can order things online and get them shipped to you and help pick the cake out. That way you can add them on the invite 😬
