Breastfeeding for an hour?

I just got my baby to latch using a nipple shield a couple days ago. She was born just over a week ago and I had to bottle feed her during that time. She takes about an hour to eat from my breasts vs the 20-30 min from the bottle. Will she become more efficient as time goes by and she gets practice? It's exhausting.

My 2 week old will eat for an hour every time. It's now cluster feeds of two hours, they say it'll go back to normal though and be about 30 min. Our flow isn't as heavy s a bottle

Sounds about right. Baby will get better as she grows! Also be aware of growth spurts and cluster feedings.....my baby nursed ...fell asleep...woke up starving in a matter of mins....this goes on for hours and hours....but it helps your milk come in too!

Mine used to take 1 hour at least to feed, I felt like all I did was feed, it gradually went down and now she only feeds between 5-10 mins on each side.

Yes, it's new to the baby. My LO was on the boob for 30 mins, now just 15-20 mins .. Although I guess when they go through a spurt they could stay on longer.
