When do kids start making friends?

Hey,

FTM here. I have a 14 month old, and we frequent the park and Gymboree. I see her waving hi to a lot of kids, but never any waving back. I know they are kids, and it's totally unrealistic to expect anything in terms of social interactions at this age, but I just want to know when they get there.

My 2.5 year old still is antisocial AF. He will say hi but he's all about talking to his family. That's what he prefers and I'm cool with it. He doesn't have developmental issues at all and he prefers dogs over people. He gets it from his mama 😂😂.  Your baby might just be introverted and being introverted isn't a bad thing. You won't know until she is little older.  Being introverted is a form of being independent and being comfortable with yourself.

Ive got 3 kids. My 13 mo has certain people she favors but not necessarily friends as she doesn't like to play with other babies. Lol My 3 yo started asking for specific kids & making friends around 2. I feel like it all depends on how much interaction they have with kids their age. My son didn't make actual friends (like asking to visit) until almost 4 but he is also on the spectrum. All kids developed differently.
