6 weeks or 8 weeks?

So I'm a bit confused, the app tells me I'm 8 weeks as its counting the two weeks before conception but surely I'd be only 6 weeks from conception? 
The app shows me the little photo of a baby at 8 weeks and I'm wondering if that's the actual size the baby is supposed to be or is it two weeks ahead? Thanks :)

It's better to find out at your ultrasound doctors identify how far along you are by taking measurements & seeing the actual baby inside you on the screen . I was estimated to be 6w but a week later at my first ultrasound I was actually 9w4d..

You count from the first day of your last period.  It's weird I know but the day you ovulate you are actually 2 weeks pregnant.

Your pregnancy is always counted from your LMP! Although 40 weeks pregnancy are counted from your LMP. Because the only date for sure IS in fact your LMP.... Therefore all is counted from there.

You are measured by the first day of your last menstrual period. So if you got your period today, the 1st, and got a positive pregnancy test on the 29th, you would be considered four weeks pregnant, even though you (most likely) conceived two weeks ago.
