seeking advice

I started a new school this week and there is this guy that I think is really cute, I don't have any classes with him but we have mutual friends. and I really want to get to know him but I don't know how I can do that. because even though he follows me on Instagram I feel like he might not know that I exist. however, one of our mutual friends mentioned me to him before and that friend also thinks we'd be good together. so, what do I do to be able to get to know him? 😁😅 keeping in mind I'm shy 😶😔
