Does sex help you dilate

I know everyone is different but did sex help you dilate or soften the cervix and when did you begin to get your body in full swing for labor in 31 weeks I know it's quite early but honestly I don't wanna be the one whose 36-38 with no progression I just don't want a c section I pushed my daughter at 37 weeks but it took me forever to start dilating but they say the first is always the hardest and anyone after comes quickly is that true?
