For or Against Flu Jab?

Hi, 
My midwife has offered me the flu vaccine and I'm not sure whether to have it or not, I'm terrified of needles so I would rather not  lol. Can anyone tell me your experiences and side effects having the flu jab please? Thanks x

I've never had one and won't get one. I stay stalked up on vitamin C this time of year, hydrated and eat plenty of greens and fruits. I know there are people who feel strongly both ways. Research and make an informed decision that you feel is best for you

I've always had the flu shot so of course I got one. I got it yesterday. I grew up in a medical family and everyone I talked to reccomended that I get it.

I have it every year as I work for the NHS and I think it's safer to have it, full on flu is horrendous, I had it when I was a kid and I never want it again, can be so dangerous when your pregnant too as your immune system is already compromised coz it's protecting you and he baby, give it everything you can to help I say xx

Pregnant women don't get the same as normal people, it helps protect you and also your baby for the first 6 weeks of their life. I got the flu vaccine and I had no side effects, I haven't had the flu vaccine in 4 years prior. And still haven't had the flu in 5 years. It's each to their own, it's more to protect bub as well.

I had it and it gave me a little cold that lasted a day! I absolutely hate needles but its no more stingy or painful than any other injection :)

No it can't make you sick, it's not a live virus

You're immune system is compromised while pregnant so it's best to get it because if you get the flu you can even end up in the ER

Its normal to get flu like symptoms for 2 or 3 days afterwards but it's not real flu. Not actually sick

It takes 2 weeks to become effective so if you do get the flu you were either exposed before that 2 week period, or you have a cold or something else.

Plus the baby also gets a little of it, so it helps them have a better chance of not getting sick after birth. Everyone talks about how "infants can't have a flu shot so I'm not putting it in my body!!" But what they fail to realise is this isn't a direct, full dose to baby. It's just a little bit they get from you.

I very much recommend doing it, along with the TDAP

I did for the fact that if I catch the flu I don't even realize I have a fever until I'm about 103 which is very dangerous for baby. I've never had a flu shot before in my life before this
