Christmas gifts!

At what age do you start expecting Christmas gifts from your kids, and do you think they should have to? I'm not talking about handmade gifts, more like, clothes, shoes, jewelry and such. I was just wondering, since I remember I was in middle school and everyone in my family expected me to buy them all this expensive stuff and they said that I that I HAD to buy them when I didn't even have any way at all of getting money, so they basically got mad at me the whole time during middle school on Christmas and didn't really enjoy my handmade gifts 😭
