highlights?

Can you get highlights while pregnant? I have an appt next week to get my hair done & it didn't even cross my mind if I can get it done or not. I'll be 9 weeks by the appt.

I'm a hair stylist of 5 years. Coloring & highlighting is safe so long as the color is ammonia free and the space is well ventilated. Highlighting is actually preferred because no product should really be touching your scalp at all anyways.

Coloring your hair is fine, especially highlights because they usually use a cap or foils and the chemicals never even touch your skin. They just recommend you get it done in a well ventilated area to protect you from the fumes. I got my hair highlighted earlier this pregnancy and I'm 34 weeks now, I plan to go again before baby arrives!

Yes but my stylist puts a cream at the roots which prevents skin absorption.

A note to everyone on here that is saying you can do it because it doesn't touch your skin. That's not the issue, the issue was what you inhale.  The recommendation is that you wait until you're out of your first trimester because you can't avoid the fumes
