Living in cold weather and going to school
Ok, I live up north and the past few days we've had very cold temps; last night was an advisory for -30 wind chills. I know someone who kept her son home from school today because it's too cold and school didn't close or delay. When we went to school it was the same thing and we just found other ways to get there. She's forgetting that unfortunately the district follows guidelines already in place and can't just up and change them. If a parent can stay home all day with her son and has a working vehicle, I think she could use her own warm vehicle to take him; her excuse was not wanting to go out in the cold...period.
This same mom also had a sick little boy not too long ago. Even as an adult who has a high temp, I would go in if it's not going down. Her son had a high temp one night and all the next day and it would go up and then meds brought it slightly down but it would always creep up, finally she took him in and he had some type of infection. She can decide to keep him home from school, but not make the choice to take him in when his temp can't be controlled....😒
Sorry but I had to rant
